Meet the SUV of Lamborghini , its called Lamborghini URUS ! The Lamborghini URUS was unveiled in the recent 2012 Beijing Auto show . Following the foot steps of Porsche Cayenne . Interestingly this SUV was named after a dead cow , maintaining Lamborghini’s tradition of naming their vehicles after bulls .
Lamborghini Urus | Design
One will not get to see the Lamborghini URUS till 2016 . More work is still required though the final design will not deviate much from its current concept design . Lamborghini as a subsidiary of Audi , which has a Q7 , so Lamborghini will most likely share and adopt similar structure and architecture as the next generation Q7 . Currently its length is about the same as Porsche Cayenne and the key focus will be to reduce the overall weight of the Urus through clever use of carbon fibre and aluminium in the vehicle’s body and structure . It intend to shed some 220 pounds lighter than its competitors and they are serious to be the best in class for CO2 emissions
Lamborghini Urus | Engine selection
Though the official power for Lamborghini Urus is 600 hp , both the V10 & V12 engine used in Lamborghini’s just does not seem to be a good fit for the Urus . Most likely engine will be the 4 liter V8 twin turbo due to the space constraints and the emissions requirements . The engine for the urus will be in front unlike all other Lamborghini’s who has their engines behind the driver .
Lamborghini Urus | an SUV Brand gamble
The Lamborghini Urus is a big gamble for Lamborghini . To stabilize revenue Porsche ventured into the SUV which was a great success for Porsche . Lamborghini expect their SUV to do likewise to their overall revenue stream . Lamborghini’s brand loyalist may not agree and see this SUV a s a brand dilution . Nevertheless Lamborghini believes that the SUV will have a great potential for them to tap into a vehicle that has a high reputation and a single vehicle that meet all their needs .
